Absolutely no one is safe here, which makes this film a refreshing jolt for a slasher film lover as myself. Would rather have dissected myself with rusty saw but couldn't locate saw. It's a … Watching Terrifier, after all of the hype, was an embarassing experience. When Tara and Dawn leave the pizza joint, they discover Dawn's car has a flat tire and she has no spare, so Tara phones her sister, Victoria (Samantha Scaffidi), and begs her to come pick them up. Art the Clown has the potential to be a formidable, gruesome, franchise horror character, he just needs more seasoning and cultivation. This was a major creep and gore fest with a deranged clown. That's not to say that there isn't a place for films like this, that isn't my point, the point I'm trying to make is that the movie was so concerned with feeling like a throwback that it neglected to give it its own identity. There's no character-work whatsoever, the movie is just putting people in Art's way for him to murder, but there's no real story progression or anything of the sort. The sub-par acting by the rest of the cast made the parts without Art The Clown unbearable and is reminiscent of low budget “adult” films. 1 star?

Instead, the poor pacing, lack of tension and suspense made for a kind of dull film experience. TERRIFIER is a filmic spin-off from an indie horror anthology called ALL HALLOWS' EVE. I loved this film (the fact that Art doesn't utter a single word throughout the entire film and is still scary beyond belief is a testament to this film's effectiveness) and it is now my favorite slasher film in the past twenty or thirty years.
